On April 25, 2024, HRM Olowu of Owu Abeokuta, in collaboration with former Super Eagles tactician Bonfrere Joe, announced the launch of the maiden edition of the Under-15 football competition.
The press conference, which took place at Owu Palace Oke-Ago Owu, revealed the competition's primary objective: to unearth and nurture young football talent across the region, with plans for expansion into other areas of Ogun State.
Named the “Oba Saka Matemilola Annual Football Competition”, the tournament is scheduled to kick off on May 12, 2024.
Its overarching goal is to empower youth while fostering unity, love, and connections among young individuals in Abeokuta and beyond, using football as a unifying medium.

On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the 2024 Owu Empowerment Foundation (OEF) Award Ceremony, was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Senator Ibikunle Amosun CON, FCA. This year's event was nothing short of remarkable as it celebrated and empowered various segments of the Owu community.
What made this year's program truly special were two significant milestones. Firstly, it marked the inaugural occasion where OEF extended its reach by donating essential items to communities and health centers within the Owu Kingdom, enriching the lives of many.
Secondly, it was the first time that the entire OEF program was solely sponsored by Senator Ibikunle Amosun FCA, CON, reflecting his deep commitment to the progress and development of our beloved Owu community.
The 2024 OEF Program, included the distribution of vital resources to empower individuals and institutions.
