HRM Oba Matemilola recently visited the Owiwi Dam in Eleyele/Kere town, accompanied by former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who also serves as the Balogun of Owu Kingdom. The visit aimed to assess the dam’s potential in boosting local agricultural activities and fostering economic growth.
Addressing the community, Chief Obasanjo encouraged the people to support their king, HRH M.A. Ola Yusuf, the Olu of Eleyele town. He emphasized that the dam holds immense potential for the cultivation of crops, fisheries, and other agricultural ventures, which could significantly improve the local economy and enhance food security.
HRH M.A. Ola Yusuf noted that the dam’s presence could attract mini-investors and agribusiness stakeholders, leading to job creation and increased development within the town. He urged the government and private sector to explore investment opportunities in the area to maximize its benefits.
