The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government Area, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Shodipo, today paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof.) Saka Matemilola. Their discussion centered around strategic areas for the development of Abeokuta North, including human capital management, agriculture, healthcare, and security.
HRM Olowu expressed his deep support for the leadership of Hon. Oyegbola-Shodipo and affirmed his readiness to collaborate on initiatives that will bring lasting impact to the people of the local government.
One of the key highlights of the conversation was a recent agricultural initiative led by the local government. The chairman shared that residents were invited to apply for two-acre farmlands, with an initial expectation of just 200 applicants. However, the response has been overwhelming, with close to 2,000 registrations already received. Hon. Oyegbola-Shodipo further revealed that investors are lined up to support the scheme with seeds, fertilizers, and other farming essentials to make agricultural activities easier and more productive for the beneficiaries.
They also discussed the state of healthcare and security in the local government. HRM Olowu noted his regular engagement with heads of security agencies, including monthly meetings with bodies like the NDLEA, NPF, NSCDC, Human Rights, amongst others. These efforts are aimed at reducing the prevalence of drug abuse and improving safety across the local government, especially among the youth.
