The Olowu of Owu, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, has reiterated his commitment to the Olowu Hope Initiative (OHI), describing it as a transformative platform for sustainable development within and outside the kingdom.
Speaking at the OHI Workshop, held to refine and realign the initiative’s vision, Kabiesi commended the dedication of the team behind the project, noting that their collaborative efforts are vital in shaping a progressive roadmap for Owu’s socio-economic advancement.
During the review session, which formed a critical segment of the workshop agenda, Oba Matemilola reflected on the milestones achieved so far, the education sectors, areas like scholarships of WAEC and JAMB to some students tagged as “Olowu scholars” across some local government in Ogun state; Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Ewekoro, and Ifo, with the hope of extending to other schools too within and outside of these local government. He also spoke about solace foundation, eradicate of drug abuse amongst the youth. He made emphasis on the need for continuous refinement of the initiative’s mission and objectives. He acknowledged the collective input of key stakeholders in driving the OHI’s agenda forward, stressing that sustained commitment and strategic planning would ensure the initiative remains impactful.
“This initiative is not just about today, but about securing a sustainable future for Owu people. The vision we set forth must be constantly reviewed, improved, and executed with precision, I am happy that we got registered at the Corporate Affairs Commission, it’s a big step for us.” the Olowu stated.
He further urged participants to consolidate on the foundational work already laid, while also embracing innovation and inclusivity in implementing developmental projects. The session also saw Oba Matemilola engaging in a critical appraisal of the governance model, highlighting areas that require enhancement to foster efficiency and effectiveness in execution.
As the workshop progressed, stakeholders deliberated on refining the governance structure and program delivery models, with emphasis on sustainability and financial planning.
The event, which brought together key figures within and outside the Owu community; such as Chief Mutiu Sumonu, Nath Obioha, Erelu Aje of Owu, Orunto, the Oloris, etc. was aimed at strengthening the OHI’s operational framework while aligning it with broader socio-economic goals.
